As the World Falls Down

Description

There's such a sad love
Deep in your eyes.
A kind of pale jewel
Open and closed
Within your eyes.
I'll place the sky
Within your eyes.

Everyone could feel the tension. The horses were on edge, and the riders and employees were all skittish. Faelan was no different. In fact, he was more off than most of the others. He could feel it. It felt as if the world was getting ready to fall apart around them. The end of the world? No. Not quite that. But was it the end? For many of them, he feared, it was. So how long did he and some of the others have left? He wasn't sure, and it scared him. He was afraid of what would happen and what could happen to those he knew if he left. What would happen to Silver if he fell in this impending doom?

The mare only shoved him when he began to wonder about her. He smiled. She would be fine. She was strong, after all.
"What if... I regret something? My spirit won't rest, Silver," He muttered softly as he let his magic shift images of his only regret to the mare. The mare rumbled in encouragement. Faelan smiled slightly. He knew what she was thinking, and sighed heavily. She was right. If he felt this afraid of what was to come, he should take care of things so there would be no regrets.

There's such a fooled heart
Beatin' so fast
In search of new dreams.
A love that will last
Within your heart.
I'll place the moon
Within your heart.

As the pain sweeps through,
Makes no sense for you.
Every thrill is gone.
Wasn't too much fun at all,
But I'll be there for you-ou-ou
As the world falls down.

He found her sitting in the pasture, as she often did. The sun was shining on her back, making her black hair shimmer. Past her, her Leopard Marked mare grazed. He could see Valka watching him, and as he got closer, she lifted her head and whinnied at him happily. The feline-esq rider turned to look at him as he closed the distance between them. He could see a small smile on her face, then her head nod slightly in a greeting.
"Priest Faelan," She purred softly as she turned back around to the book that she held in her lap. Faelan knelt down next to Kiija and looked at the pages of the book. The text was all in a script he recognized quite well. It was old elvish, the same script that stained their horses' pelts.
"What's that one?" He asked as he lifted the book from her hands to see the hard cover. A soft purr escaped Kiija as she rebalanced the text in her hands.
"It has a bunch of tales. Like how the stars came to be, what spirits are, and even where Zalatar came from," She replied as she placed her leaf bookmark into the bindings and closed the covers. Faelan nodded, interested, but only really trying to stall the situation a bit.
"What can I help you with today, master Priest?" Kiija's eyes narrowed on Faelan now. She could tell something was up, and using all her methods to annoy it out of him. Though being called "Master" and "priest" by her often tormented him, it didn't even touch him now. His mind was too far elsewhere to care about these tauntings.
"Will you, er... take a walk with me?" He asked finally, wanting to get a little distance away from the ranch where eyes were always spying. Kiija frowned slightly. Something was really up, but as much as she would deny it, she really did trust the fairy, and nodded in agreement.

Falling.
Falling down.
Falling in love.

I'll paint you mornings of gold.
I'll spin you Valentine evenings.
Though we're strangers 'til now,
We're choosing the path
Between the stars.
I'll leave my love
Between the stars.

As the pain sweeps through,
Makes no sense for you.
Every thrill is gone.
Wasn't too much fun at all,
But I'll be there for you-ou-ou
As the world falls down.

They walked in their shifted forms, carrying small talk for a few minutes, until they were over the first hills around the ranch. Once in the valley between the Hills, Kiija shifted and turned on him, her eyes strong and narrow.
"Alright. Spill it. What's wrong?" She asked, hissing sharply. Faelan shifted into his normal form, and smiled down at her. She was sharp and fierce, but over the last season, he had seen so much more of her. He had seen the love and patience she had as Valka healed from her wounds. He had seen the child like wonder in her eyes when he showed her his shifted form for the first time. He had seen her calm, respectful side when she thanked the Elves and Dwarves for saving her horse. He had seen almost all of her sides, and each one pulled him in more and more. He wasn't used to the feelings, but it was something he could accept. What he was afraid of was how she would react. Would she shun him away? Would she think that he was still the flirtatious, whoring man that he had been? Did she realize that he hadn't even LOOKED at another woman (or man) since the night Valka was attacked by the dragon? He had so many questions, but he knew none of them would be answered unless he said what was on his mind.
"Fae!" Kiija hissed, snapping him out of his slightly panicked stupor.
"Sorry! Sorry," He muttered as he rubbed the back of his neck. Kiija frowned deeply now, showing her concern for the Fairy Man. Fae didn't look at her as he tried to find the right words.
"So, you know how when you listen to a new song, and you think 'Yes... That's how I feel!' and it describes everything perfectly?" He started. It was cheesy, but it was the best way he could think of saying this without totally embarrassing himself. Kiija was silent for a moment, but then nodded slightly. A frown was still on her face, but now the concern was being replaced by curiosity.
"Well, you know the song 'As The World Falls Down' from th-"
"The Labyrinth? With David Bowie?"
She interrupted with a small smile. Fealan snickered and nodded. He knew that she loved the movie, just as did Alicia and Maikoda... and just about all of the females of the ranch.
"Well," He continued with a slight hesitation. His heart was pounding heavily in his chest, and his stomach felt as if small wings were fluttering about inside of it.
"I feel like... That song is how I feel. How I have felt, for some time now," He felt sweat in his palms, and shoved his hands into his pockets, trying to keep himself relaxed.
"I guess, what I am trying to say is...." He paused again, trying to find the word, to make himself sound a bit more relaxed and creative.
"Melane" He finally said, tapping into his Elven Tongue knowledge. He just hoped he said it right, which was always a challenge.

He could see shock and something else... on Kiija's face.
"I... Don't know what that word means," She said softly. Faelan smiled slightly, for he knew she was lying. She was a horrible liar.
"Yes you do, and I hope it won't change a thing... between us... that is," he smiled slightly, hoping that this wasn't a sign that she was going to leave. He hoped this wasn't a mistake. Oh bless the spirits, it probably was! She was going to tell him off and leave, and would never look at him again.
"You...Y-you shouldn't," Kiija finally muttered out as she looked at her feet. Under her thin pelt, her cheeks were rosy and full of color.
"And why is that?" He asked, slightly offended.
"Because. You are a priest of your people. I am a misfit soldier. They will not accept that," She whispered. Faelan's heart skipped slightly. So her only reason was because of his people's beliefs? Maybe this wasn't going to turn out as badly as he thought.
"My people are more accepting than humans, elves and dwarves, Kiija WillowPaw," He smiled and reached out to push her hair from her eyes. Her silver eyes looked up at him again and she chuckled slightly.
"Now, why don't we go back, before they start to wonder, eh?" Faelan asked as he motioned back towards the ranch. Kiija nodded silently and shifted again. He followed her, and they were soon walking, shoulder to shoulder, back to the ranch.

Kiija And Faelan  Having a bonding moment.... So... maybe it's more than just a bonding moment, but yeah... hehe.

I got lazy with this background, cuz' I just couldn't decide what else to do... So it's boring, so Don't look at it that much.
And Yes, Faelan does typically have wings, but he tends to hide them, just out of habit of his race.

Faelan is a cheetah in his shifted form, while Kiija takes on a more Mountain Lion-esq figure. Though he is bigger than her, she is more muscled and about the same weight, if not heavier, than him.

CastShadowPegasus, don't have a heart attack! DON'T PASS OUT EITHER~

Song is from The Labyrinth (only the best movie ever) and sang by David Bowie
